My first few days

This is the first post of my blog. I have been here a few days so I have a few things to talk about.

Today is Saturday, I arrived here late Wednesday night, thankfully to hot weather!
The flight was ok, apart from being so packed it felt like sardines in a can and there was a man behing me poking my back from London to Houston for nearly ten hours, lovely! Flying for such a long amount of time is definitely no fun alone.

Houston is a big city that I have travelled to every time I have come to Texas, everything is big in

When I arrived my first adventure was of course shopping, I travelled to Houston Galleria which is like heaven, I stocked up on enough Lush for the trip and then began travelling the four hour car journey to visit my Dad's house in Port Aransas.

Texas, especially compared to where I live!
On the way back from Houston, it has kind of become tradition to visit 'Prasek's BBQ' this is a huge BBQ house on the long, straight road on the way to my Dad's house, there isn't really anything like this at home, it is just all kinds of meat and really is just the typical way of describing Texas, as soon as you walk in you understand why people all think Texas is the same, all about cowboys, hunting, ranches and BBQ.
Coming into Port Aransas is so nice because coming from Houston you have to travel on a short ferry ride to enter the island, usually surrounded by dolphins and pelicans this is a nice welcoming!
This is when the heat really hits you, 90 degrees with the car turned off and the windows down.

Port Aransas is like nothing you have seen before, it is a small island that is all about, sun, surfing, fishing, swimming and eating! It is nothing like England, most of the houses are wooden, it is surrounded by palm trees and the sea and pools are actually nice and warm!

After a good nights sleep I got up and we went out for lunch in the sun, enjoying a nice chicken salad sat enjoying the weather in my sunglasses! This weather feels so good, especially leaving snow storms on the way to Manchester airport on Wednesday morning.

I have included a few snaps of around Port Aransas.

Later that afternoon I decided to take full advantage of the weather and my few days in Port Aransas and go for a swim, now this was certainly like heaven!

I'm guessing just from this first post that my blog is going to consist of me nattering on and a lot of photos! I am trying to take photographs everywhere I go to keep documenting everything that I do.

That night the jet-lag was really starting to hit me, but we had planned to visit my Dad's friends Patty and Joe, first we went to where they were staying which is a lovely beach house but also at the top of the hill in the garden is a Chapel, a tiny little historic chapel that is like nothing I have ever seen before. Patty took me inside and told me the stories of it and it was really interesting. The whole of the inside was painted in really colourful paintings, all from the Bible and me not being religious couldn't really make out what they were but they were really interesting anyway!

Sadly I don't have any photos of the Chapel but hopefully I can get some before I leave to add on at a later date.
We sat and had snacks and drinks at their house as they told us different stories of past times and fun that they had experienced and about where they live in Indiana.
After enjoying drinks and snacks we then all went onto have dinner at the best mexican on the island 'San Juans' this was delicious as always but we left at around 10pm because I think I might have fallen asleep at the table if we had have stayed any longer, jet lag is not fun!

A lovely night though!

I am really enjoying my time here so far and tomorrow is Sunday and is also the day that I will pack up and move to Dallas for five weeks! I am so excited to meet Elizabeth Anyaa who is the designer that I will be working for. I have never visited Dallas before so there is a lot that I would love to do and see so hopefully I will be able to do this as well as enjoying the life of being an intern!
