And I have more to post about!
Today was a good day, today and tomorrow are days to prepare for career day on friday. This is an American thing that is for all the local fashion colleges to attend, different designers and crafts people go and set up their stuff. Elizabeth Anyaa, the designer I am working with has been invited to be a guest speaker at the event, so this means she will do a talk to a group of students for around 45 minutes and then the next group of students will come in.
This will be a good experience for me because I know that Elizabeth is a well respected designer here so it will be good to listen to everything she speaks about in the talk.
Today I was set the tasks of making a powerpoint presentation that will be played in the back ground while Elizabeth is speaking, filled with images of her work and catwalk videos I wanted to make it as exciting as I could.
I also was set the task of creating a flyer that could be printed out to give to all the students that are interested in maybe interning with Elizabeth or ones that just would like to know more information I put all the contact details on there too.
Whilst I was doing this there was other things going on in the studio. At around lunch time two men came in and brought their adorable dog, I was obsessed with this little dog and the men told me that they paint her nails, I was amazed at how adorable she was! I had to take a photo for my blog, so here it is!
How cute is she! And with her Chanel collar and painted pink nails she definitely fit right in, in the studio!
I also got to view another fitting today, as Elizabeth allows customers in the shop/studio only by appointment. I love seeing how the fittings work. There is an event at the Dallas Art Museum this weekend so there is a few lady's wearing pieces by Elizabeth therefore have been coming for fittings ready for the event.
As the day went on I was speaking to Elizabeth and I was telling her that I had seen an article about a Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art and she told me that she was a part of that show, she also sold some pieces. I was really amazed by that and she carried on telling me that former super-model and fashion icon Jan Strimple has worn Elizabeth Anyaa pieces.
Jan Strimple wearing Elizabeth Anyaa with Jean Paul Gaultier.
I love to hear the stories that Elizabeth tells me about the fashion industry, I also like to listen to the stories of all the different people that come in the studio.
Everybody that has come in the studio has been so friendly, it is really good to meet different people from the Dallas fashion scene because it is a whole different world compared to English fashions.
As I was creating the powerpoint for Elizabeth's presentation it allowed me to research everything about Elizabeth's work and older work, some of it that I hadn't yet seen and loved looking at.
I found this one photoshoot that I was amazed by so I kept the photos to put on here.
I have also found my favourite garment by Elizabeth that is this dress below.
As I continued looking at all different photographs I found my self loving Elizabeth's work more and more. I am now looking forward to experiencing career day on Friday and preparing everything for it tomorrow.
