Carrying on from my last post...

The first night back on this island with a disturbed sleep because i was so ill. And the day after I just stayed in all day and had a film day!

Saturday came around and the island was crazily busy, sandfest weekend is one of the busiest weekends on the island because people come from all over for it. 

Sandfest is an event on the beach only in Port Aransas that shows the work of sand sculptures from all over the world, they come to the island and set up their stuff, they have two days to create what ever they want out of a pile of sand, it sounds crazy but they are actually really good! And as i woke up that morning feeling alot better we thought we would go.

Fighting your way through thousands of people on a beach is not easy, and trust me to not wear sun cream, i guess i didn't think that you're not supposed to be out in the sun when on anti-biotics...  I got MAJORLY burnt. 

It felt so nice being back on the island though, away from busy city life. Walking down the beach with a fruity snow cone (flavoured shaved ice).. heaven! 

The population on Port Aransas is around 3000 people, and the three days that Sandfest was on, there wass 600,000 people on the island. So you can imagine how crazy it was.

So, it's 90 degrees, you're on the beach.. what do you wear?

This guy was not messing about.... ONLY in Texas.

So after a few hours at the beach it was a really good day, apart from the sunburn and the swimmer than went out to far in the sea and couldnt get back because of the current. Thousands of people stood watching while there was helicopters and ambulances trying to save him. Thankfully they saved him!

That night we were invited to my Dad's friends house Judy and Mark's to sit on their rooftop deck and watch the sunset. Their house is lovely I loved it! And they have the cutest dog called JT...

This is the street they live on, i love it! Definitely one of the nicest streets on the island

In paradise sat on the deck drinking 'squirt' why you would name a drink squirt i do not know. 

It is the American version of Lilt though!

After a really nice night of exploring the house and seeing pretty much the whole island from the roof it was time for home, but not before a ride in the lift that they have in the house, little JT loves to go in the lift he ran in as fast as he could! So cute!! I wanted to take him home but he wasn't budging. 

Going to sleep that night wasn't an easy task with the sunburn, and I had to go everywhere being bright pink for about a week, not a good look.
